Why Mexico?

There is no other way around it: fascism is back. During the first day of his second presidential term, Donald Trump ignited a campaign to dehumanize and prosecute transgender people.Although Mexico's federal stance towards LGBT people is currently way more progressive than the U.S.A., it's not the leftist paradise some media outlets try to depict. Transgender people, especially sex workers, are very vulnerable and face systemic violence. Sadly, México has one of the highest transgender murder rates worldwide.On the other hand, México has made some major advances regarding LGBT public policies.

Overall, México is one of the most viable havens for trans people looking for a safe place to live. There are many shelters and havens for homeless people. The majority of the cisgender population is civil toward trans people. Government institutions and private companies are steadily improving their acceptance and inclusion. CONAPRED is a national council in charge of tracking, preventing, and eliminating racial, ethnic, gender, and sexual discrimination that has operated since 2003.

For a long time, Mexico has been resisting gentrification. There exists considerable animosity toward expats and speculators, with many historic neighborhoods facing eviction and being turned into Airbnbs. Still, many international communities thrive in our country. Mexicans are super friendly to foreigners who put some effort into learning Spanish and assimilating their culture.If you are considering moving to Mexico, please do your best to connect with your fellow trans and queer community.
